Needy animals...

I can't have one decent conversation with my child without one of the dogs or the cat thinking I'm talking to one of them. "Serenity now!" -George from Seinfeld. He knows what I'm talking about.

Hiccups

Last night when we were going to bed, we were able to feel his little hiccups! I've heard then before on the Doppler, but they were never strong enough to feel. They definitely were last night! Aaron even felt them.

Go baby go! Expand those lungs!

Almost 29 weeks

I know, I've been slacking hardcore. But it's only because I've been so busy.

I'll do my best at filling you all in...

Let's see, well, last week I spent the day in the hospital. Had a kidney infection. THOSE suck. Got it all taken care of and I'm all better now. Did not like the drip they had to put in my arm :( But I did enjoy the pain meds they put in. Makes me think more lightly towards epidurals.

He has a name. He's had a name for quite sometime now, but I just never made an official announcement because really, I don't want anyone's opinion nor do I care what you think. Now that you are aware of that, I will tell you...

His name is Jack Bastion. Jack was a nickname given to Aaron when he was little by his Grandpa. His grandpa unfortunately died when Aaron was on his first deployment back in '08. He was really close with his Grandpa, and he never got to say goodbye. So this is our little tribute. Plus, Jack is SUCH a cool name. I'm obsessed with it.

Bastion is his middle name. Bastion comes from Camp Bastion in Afghanistan. It is, in fact, the location where Aaron flat lined after he got shot, and was brought back to life. So this particular military location is pretty special to Aaron and I. He got a second chance at life there, and what better way to pay tribute to that then to name the little baby that came out of such a life changing experience? It's been a long LONG road since then, and the baby deserves an epic name because his life and the fact that he is on his way is epic. So that's what he's getting.

Almost 29 weeks now. Things are becoming more difficult to do. Bending down- forget it. Aaron got me one of those old lady grabbers. It's amazing! Makes picking up our bedroom so much easier. (maybe I'll clean it more....mmm...probably not). Rolling over in bed is a labor in itself. Sleeping is sooo uncomfortable these days. And it really doesn't help that I have to get up 3 to 5 times a night to pee. Daytime is worse...I pee ALL THE TIME. I've learned where all the restrooms are at the places I frequent. I waddle now and my feet are gone. Bye feet! Since I can't really reach my feet anymore, that gives me a legitimate excuse to get more pedicures right? I think yes.

Enough about me...

Well Jack has been doing some MAJOR kicking as he gets bigger. I talk to him a lot and tell him how much his dad and I love him. I also have him listen to Britney Spears and some various other artists. But he seems to like it when I sing him Britney. I introduced him to the Wicked soundtrack in the car the other day. He really enjoyed that. He will be enjoying the live version later this month when his dad and I go see Wicked! It will be my 3rd time going and Aaron's first. I'M. SO. EXCITED. Anyway, Jack is funny. If I lean forward for too long, like when I'm on the computer, he kicks or punches (not sure) the bottom of my belly to get me to sit back so he has more room. So smart already. He sometimes responds to Aaron's voice. Though, who doesn't? It's pretty loud ;) The baby just pretty much moves all day long with short sleep cycles here and there. It's pretty amazing that I can already tell what my nights are going to be like.

The dogs still seem to have NO idea. They're in for a real shocker. Tiger, our cat, seems to know something. He's been a lot more cuddly lately. I think he'll be the best with the baby. I can already see them laying in the crib together.

I cannot believe that I have 11 weeks left. It's so surreal. The holiday's are gonna go by so fast. Then all the sudden it will be February. jfkdsau8fe9w90(^&*Ijou936%&*03. uh oh.

3D ultrasound tomorrow! I promise I wont take as long to post up the photos and video from that.

Latest ultrasound photos

soooo the good thing about having an extra cautious doctor is that I get a ton of ultrasounds. I'm now 28 weeks and 5 days, and I will probably have about 3 more. Yay!

Anyway, this ultrasound was done three weeks ago at 25 weeks and 5 days. Our guy weighed 2.3 pounds! Even my doctor was surprised haha. He's gonna be a big boy! So now, he's probably closer to 3 lbs., if not, over 3 lbs. yikes!

DEFINITELY still a boy! Look at that thing!

His little face from the side. The nose isn't quite accurate though. We've seen his nose in 3D and it looks like Aaron's- quite large.

We have our BIG 3D ultrasound tomorrow at three. We'll have video and a ton of 3D photos to share. I'm just excited to see him again!

Trying to stay off the sauce...

Hot sauce...that is. Heartburn like nobody's business. Sometimes, though, I will suffer because, hey, a quesadilla just isn't the same without Cholula.

My belly is moving.

wow lots of "firsts" this week! Sittin' here watching I Love Lucy. Just finished the kitchen, floors and lunch.
I started to feel a bunch of kicks. And I looked down to see if I could see anything. I DID! the whole right side of my belly moved up and down! He's getting so big. Definitely moved above my belly button now.

Kinda makes all the pain worth it :)

Round Ligament Pain...translation- I'm an idiot

SO, found out pretty quickly what that was yesterday. Just didn't know that's what it was called until the nurse in Labor and Delivery told me.

yeeaaahhhhhh...this is how my day went....

Ran a couple errands. Very productive. Last stop was the grocery store. I had been having this pain, but mild and on and off for days. While shopping, all the sudden I had to limp because the pain was so bad. So I quickly hurried to finish, got home. Made four tearful walks to the car to get the groceries. Then called my doctor. They actually told me to rest and drink water, "we'll see you at your appointment on friday". But I was persistent. It was really painful! So she told me to go ahead and go to the ER and that they would send over my records. If I was dehydrated, they would re-hydrate me...yada yada yada.

Unfortunately, Aaron was on duty that night, so he was an hour and a half away, but I called him and asked him to come home. He came as fast as he could. I waited for him on the couch while watching The Office. If I'm having a bad day there are two things on TV that will always make me feel better- The Office and the movie Father of the Bride- part I or II. ...which, wow, I can't believe I don't own.

Aaron got home finally, and I have never seen him run up the stairs quite so fast to get changed haha. At least I know he'll be good when I go into labor. Though, I think I was more calm than him. It was the drug bust episode on the Office. Michael was conducting one of his famous meetings in the conference room. He gave us some useful statistics, "look to your left. Now look to your right. One out of the two people you just looked at will die of drug use at some point in their life. Did you know that more people will do cocaine than will read a book this year?" Ah, Michael's words of wisdom.

ANYWAY....so we get to the ER. Since I'm past 20 weeks, they send me to labor and delivery. They even took me in a wheel chair. That was nice since I could barely walk.

Longer story short, they listened to the baby. All's well. He sounds awesome and is as active as ever. We got to hear him swimming and kicking. Then they hooked up the contraction monitor to my belly to make sure I wasn't having contractions. That thing was tight! The baby did NOT like it. He kept kicking it. An hour later, they come in...soooo you're having round ligament pain. We called your doctor, and he says just rest, take a warm bath and you may take two extra strength tylenol every 6 hours for pain.

I felt stupid. But the nurses were all very sweet. They said that it's better to be safe than sorry. I totally agree and am glad I went, but still.

So I'm just drinking a lot of water today. Resting. And counting my blessings. Could be worse.

We ended out the night with a couple wendy's frosty's and el pollo loco. Yumm.

Riverdance....

This is what is happening in my belly the last few days. Tiny bit hard to sleep when you have a full irish step dancing concert going on in your uterus. I think we may have a mini Michael Flatley on the way. The baby IS part Irish, after all ;)

^^^^enjoy watching one of the coolest dance sequences from Lord of the Dance. I dare you to only watch it once, but I'm willing to bet that you'll watch it at least 3 times. And you will think it's more awesome every time. Now THAT is how dancing should be.

19 weeks...and 4 days (technically speaking)

So again, I'm slightly late in posting this. Big surprise ;)

Well, 19 weeks, not much is goin' on except for I felt the first big kicks yesterday! Can't wait for Aaron to feel them. Also, I've had this killer headache for the last week or so. I'm trying SO hard not to medicate, so I'm sticking with ice and rest.

You can't see it in the photo, but my bump has officially moved past the ta-ta's. It's getting big! Now, I just wish it would round out a little more. I'm guessing that's coming within the next week or so.

I cannot believe that I'll be at the halfway mark this sunday. This pregnancy is going by SO fast. But I can't wait to meet my little man. Aaron and I have been coming up with ideas for the baby's room. It will have neutral colors (since I despise the loud primary colors that come on most of the bedding and decorations), and it will be "adventure" themed. But not too crazy. I want to have a chest in there with capes and pirate hats, marine dress up stuff. Obviously, this stuff wont be in his room when he's a newborn, but once he wants to play, it will be there for him! For about the first year, we're going for a more modern Pooh Bear theme. I have a whole slew of pooh quotes that are ready to be framed and hung on the walls. Who knew that Pooh Bear was so philosophical?
If you have a Pinterest account, (if you don't I HIGHLY suggest you get one) you can view my board for the baby's room. You'll get a better idea of what I am talking about.

Alright, time to go feed the dogs.

adieu.

19w 4d and...

We can add some stronger kicks that I can just barely feel outside my belly to the list of all things awesome. Couple weeks or less and I say, Aaron will be feeling the kicks himself!

I love my little baby.

Time is going by so fast!

16 week ultrasound pics

I'm 18 weeks now, so this was two weeks ago. I'm a little slow. But I was busy!

This ultrasound was my favorite one so far. He's still a boy...as you can see below :) But the cool thing was that he was squeezing his hands open and closed. He was, as per usual, kicking up a storm and moving around a lot. In the time that we there, all of 10 mins, he managed to flip himself over. He's got Aaron's ADD already hahaha Can't sit still!

So this, as it was described to me, is "inside the toilet looking up". I'm one of those ladies who can't see s*it on the monitor. I have no intuition of what anything is, so I ask a lot of questions haha

The left is his little head, side profile, and I believe that is his little hand there by his mouth. The right photo- we may never know ;)

OK so I finally got some clarity from the tech on why the left photo looks so creepy. He's looking straight at us, basically, and we're basically seeing the eye sockets and nose socket. So that's why it looks so scary. Then on the right we have his long Aaron like foot. Hopefully, he doesn't get Aaron's creepy toes.

Here's my little guy after he flipped over. You can see his spine there and his legs squished up.

I can't wait for him to come out! I just want to eat his feet. Those little piggys are going in my belly.

17 weeks

Alright, I'm getting better at this whole week to week update thing. 17 weeks yesterday (sunday)!! This little guy is kicking up a storm. The last 4 or 5 days I've started to feel him much more. I think he is developing some sleep patterns. I learned what his movements, kicks and hiccups sound like on the doppler. That's totally fun to listen to.
As you can see, my belly is starting to protrude more and more. Lately, I have been feeling a heaviness in my uterus? If that makes sense. It's getting harder to bend over and forward out of a chair of the couch. I've had to really rely on my arm strength to hoist myself up and out of our death trap of a couch. It's time for a new couch, I think.
OH, I already have to get my wedding ring resized :( I know a lot of women go without wearing theirs, but  I want to get it resized. I can't go that long without wearing mine. I feel single and naked. And I don't like it!
We officially have a name picked out, but I'm not sure if Aaron and I are sharing yet. So I'll hold my tongue. But I will give you the initials...JBE

Tomorrow, if I get time between work and editing photos, I will post up the most recent ultrasound photos. He's so handsome :)

How I announced on FB

I keep forgetting to post up screen caps of these. I announced on facebook at 10w5d. I left several fun little hints. It was really fun to see everyone's questioning and reactions.

Ok here they are!

This was so fun for me! I took joy in confusing a lot of you at first hahaha.

16 weeks

Here's my little belly! Baby boy is located about halfway between my belly button and the top part of my lower abdomen area....if you get what I'm saying ;) And if you look to the right of the screen, you will learn that he is about the size of an avocado crown to rump. He's getting big!

After seeing just how active he is at our ultrasound last weekend, I can confirm that I've been feeling him flutter away for a couple weeks now. It feels like bubbling or kind of like popcorn popping. And because we have an at home doppler, we have been able to follow his migration out of my pelvic area and into my abdominal area. So I always know exactly where he is even though I can't feel him with my hands yet.

In other news, my sciatic is feeling a bit better, but my fatigue has returned. And since we found out that we are having a boy, I connected with the pregnancy more and a WAVE of emotions can and will come out at a moment's notice. I was a little emotional before, but now the littlest things throw me into this loud, ugly cry. haha Aaron handles it like a champ though. I know he's going to be a good dad, and this is one of the reasons.

Still no cravings, and I've only gained a couple pounds, which is nice. But I never really want anything. Well, the only things that I do crave at the moment are holiday drinks at Starbucks and pumpkin yogurt at Golden Spoon. But I don't know if those have anything to do with my pregnancy. This happens every year around this time when I am sick of summer. I'm so ready for cold weather!

What else.....

OH! Pregnancy has turned me into a complete moron. I can't remember ANYTHING. Sorry in advance if I'm slow in my response to anyone that has called, emailed, texted, facebooked, tweeted, instagramed, and face to face spoken to me because I probably just forgot haha.

Well here is the dude's heartbeat from sunday @ exactly 16 weeks. Sounds like horses!

Our boy's latest ultrasound photos!

It was Saturday the 27th that we went in for an elective ultrasound. It was at this awesome ultrasound place called Unique Ultrasound in Temecula, ca. They had this giant screen where they were projecting on to. They also had a few couches and chairs for family and friends to come and watch. Both Aaron and I thought that was a little weird.

Alright, enjoy everyone!

How much does this little guy look like his father? Same side profile. Same nose. If you look closely, you can see that he's smirking...much like Aaron does :) He seriously looks like a little man.
This picture just confuses me. To me, it looks like he's staring right at us. But it looks a little scary doesn't it? But then why is his stomach so round? haha I don't know. I never know what I'm looking at during the ultrasounds.
The tech says, "OH, do you see what in between the legs there?!" I wanted to see so badly, but I really had no idea haha so I said, "nooo". She moved the wand and asked me again, and I still couldn't see it. So finally I was like, "What is it?!" "It's a boy!" I think my first words were, "oh my gosh!". Aaron, of course, being the smarty pants that he is, was able to see it before the tech even said anything. He said that he had the biggest grin on his face. Aaron got his boy!
I believe that thing that looks like the thing I think it is, is his thing ;)

We will have more photos TOMORROW! Going in for the anatomy ultrasound tomorrow! I know, it's a bit early for one of those. I'll be 16 weeks and 2 days. Not exactly sure why my doc. ordered it so early. Maybe he'll do two? We'll see! The more the merrier. Aaron, thankfully will get to come home from work to go with me. We love seeing our little one. It helps us to bond with him more. He's such an active guy!

Cheez-its

So this morning, I woke up and couldn't fall back to sleep AND had EXTREME hunger. Well, this is almost a daily occurrence. Usually, I just wait it out and go back to sleep. But since Aaron has a nice long weekend, he's here! Sooo I asked him to go get me a cold water and the box of cheez-its I bought yesterday. It's 5am. Haha they were DELICIOUS. Probably the best cheez-its I've ever had. Thanks Aaron :)

On another note, I really need to stop watching 9/11 documentaries before I go to bed. I've been having some freaky dreams.

Ok going back to bed now...

Other than that, we have our early gender check ultrasound in t-minus 6 days! Ahhhh!!!
And then a week and a half after that we have our whole anatomy ultrasound. I love ultrasounds!

13 weeks

Well like every week, we checked the heartbeat on our Doppler, and I found the heartbeat pretty easily. But the Doppler couldn't get an accurate reading because the little guy (or girl) was moving away from the wand thing! It was kind of cool though. It was like hide and go seek in the womb.

Well anyways, I thought the second trimester was supposed to be easier. Apparently not. Umm gassy much? Bloated much? Sciatic nerve pain much? I can't even take a deep breath without some pain in my upper ab area where I'm bloated. so walking is a little difficult since I cant bend too well and I'm limping because of my sciatic.

And on top of all that uncomfortableness, Aaron and I shot a wedding yesterday. Luckily, it was only 6 hours and not a whole day. But by the time the reception rolled around, my back was about to break. It was a beautiful wedding with an awesome couple, but by the end, I was miserable. I woke up in the middle of the night last night and could barely walk to the bathroom to go pee. So needless to say, I'm going to get a massage at 1 today :) then tomorrow, getting my nails done. Massages and getting your nails done make everything better. Plus, is anyone else soothed by the Vietnamese language?...only when at the nail salon though. Haha

Yay 13 weeks! Sorry for the rant. I needed to have a pity party for a minute.

Tiny freak out

It's 5:19am...been up since 3. I'm 13 weeks today and oh my God...we're going to have a baby in 6 months. A baby. Here. In this house. Oh. My. God.
The dogs aren't ready! The house isn't ready! Ahhh!!!

On the bright side, I think tiger cat will be right at home with the baby. Plus, the baby's room is, in fact, tigers room. It's his lounge area, so I think he'll be the one to take in the baby, rather than those damn dogs. They are the most jealous dogs I've ever met in my life. If im loving on Kane, Miley will butt her fat little body in and push Kane out of the way. And vise versa. Then when Miley is displeased, she'll pee on the carpet right in front of me. She did that the other day because we had to take them to the petshotel for a few days while we were on vacation. The last time she did it was when we got Kane. It was worse then. She was so jealous, that she peed in our bed, on the carpet, in the kitchen; everywhere else except for outside! That was a nightmare first week. I suspect it will be much of the same when baby comes.

Doctor visits...

My favorite part about going to see the doctor (besides actually meeting with my doctor) is watching all the pregnant women going in and out of the waiting room door to use the restroom. It's kind of a fun game. Like, who's next?!

Today, Aaron FINALLY got to meet Dr. Byrne. Well, needless to say, he won Aaron over with his sarcastic humor. They better not get all sarcastic-y and jokey in the delivery room! I WILL HURT SOMEONE. Aaron, my love, this is your first formal warning. Don't piss off the pregnant lady, ok? ;)

So the last week and a half has brought about some new pain...sciatic nerve pain in my left side. It's constant and it sucks. But I really can't complain. So doc has put me on even MORE rest than I was before. I REALLY want to work out. I think swimming would be ok though. No lifting of nerve pain in the water! His rules are, no lifting more than 10 lbs, no pushing or pulling anything more than 10 lbs, and I have to sit and rest ever 30 mins. OH and I have to sleep on my right side only. That's gonna be a challenge since I'm a mover. Within the last few days, I have found that I can no longer sleep on my stomach. That's kind of a tragedy since it's what I do to help myself fall asleep if I'm having trouble. But now it's painful. That limits me to side and back sleeping. And I hear that it's only a matter of time before sleeping on my back becomes painful. yay. So until my sciatic nerve pain subsides a bit, I am limited to my right side and back for now. yippie.

But I can't be anything more than thankful. I'd rather have pain all over than to have no baby at all. I just can't wait for my little prize at the end.

music in utero...

There is certain music that I will NOT let die! This is music that I want my kid to know and love since I will probably listen to this music "till the world ends" (britney song)

Just go with me:
-Britney Spears
-the soulful sounds of the Backstreet Boys.
-John Mayer
-Bob Marley

Aaron's music list will be more 90's music (which he LOVES, and I'm cool with that. I mean, who doesn't love 90's music? Think, "Drops of Jupiter", "All the Small Things", "Kiss Me", Alanis Morisette in general (Jagged Little Pill!)...and all that good stuff.

Anyways...of course, we'll play some classical music and Frank Sinatra. But I want my child to come out singing "baby one more time". Because that's how I roll.

Baby's heartbeat

@11 weeks (last week, since I'm 12 weeks today!). I bought an at home doppler from ebay. It's amazing! Of course, it's not as high tech or as strong as the dopplers at the doctors office, but it works and it reassures Aaron and I that we still have a little one beating away in there.

So without further adieu, here is our little baby's heartbeat. 161 BPM at 11 weeks.

Doctor Confirmed!

I had a follow up to my last ultrasound yesterday with my Doctor (Dr. Byrne. and I love him. He has dry/sarcastic humor and EXCELLENT bedside manner. LOVE that. Also, he delivers ALL of his babies.).
He told me that everything looks incredible. Everything is progressing beautifully. Baby Edwards measured crown to rump length of 2.5 CM. And like I said in the last post, the BPM was 170!

Dr. Byrne asked me all the routine questions:
Any nausea? - nope
Any morning sickness?- nada
Cramps?- zip
Are your boobs sore?- not really. They were. But it's not bothersome anymore.
How's your energy?- Really great actually! I was really tired everyday in the afternoon, but now I feel much more energized.

So Dr. Byrne says, "wow! you're boring! I love that you're boring!"
lol so do I...so do I.
I could so be on that show "I didn't know I was pregnant". I mean, obviously, I would have figured it out eventually when my period didn't come....but I've really had little to no symptoms. Yay me! Thank you, sweet baby E, for not wreaking my body in the first trimester.

Tomorrow marks 11 weeks for me! I think I will begin taking belly photos. Shirt on! I wont do the bare belly until I actually get maternity photos done. I do have a bit of a bump now. So I think it's time I start documenting this in photos.

Ultrasound #2

We didn't get any photos :( This information was specifically for my doctor to make sure I was progressing normally. I wish I would have had Aaron take video because it was truly amazing. The ultrasound was last week on thursday. Babies BPM was 170! (old wives tale predicts the higher the heart rate, the more likely it is that you will have a girl. *fingers crossed*) Anyway, we saw the baby wiggling around. He or she was quite active! We thought we saw some big balls, but obviously at nine weeks, that would be impossible lol. Crown to rump measurement put me right on where I should be at 9.5 weeks.

Baby Edwards' First photo

There's the baby!
The day after I found out, I went in for a blood test. Levels were nice and high! Ultrasound was ordered.  Aaron was able to go (yay!). We went in the next week. Now, I calculated around 5 weeks. Turns out, I was almost 8 weeks along! I had NO idea! I'm one of the "lucky ones", I guess! I haven't had any morning sickness, and generally little to no symptoms. My body is awesome. haha. Sorry to anyone who is reading this that has or has had bad morning sickness :( Watch, I'll get it full force on my second pregnancy. Great. I just jinxed myself.
Anyway, we heard and saw the heartbeat. 150 BPM at 7 weeks and 5 days. We're so happy!

Estimated time of arrival: February 19, 2012
*fingers crossed* for a Valentine's Day baby. I love pink and hearts, so this all works out. AND, we adopted our beloved kitty, Tiger, on Valentine's Day two years ago.

Surprise! We're pregnant!

Here's the story:
So Aaron and I have been trying for almost 2 years now and had 3 painful miscarriages. We recently decided to stop actively trying. And BAM, we're pregnant. One morning, I decided to take a test because something was off. Something didn't quite feel right. So I was sittin' there thinking, "there's just no way. I'm just taking this test to take it, and I'll move on. I know what it will say". Then I looked back at where I had placed the test. "nope. WAIT! what?!" And there before my very eyes, were two dark lines! I cried some happy tears and then immediately called Aaron. I so wanted to tell him in a special way, but we've tried so hard for so long, that I couldn't contain myself and wait till he got home from work. So I called. I told him he was gonna be a DAD! He goes, "what?!" and I told him again. He kind of giggled while saying "that's great!" I think we were both just shocked. We talked for a bit about the news and exchanged I love you's.
And then I called my mom, who was at the grocery store. I asked if she had a second. And I told her that she may want to stop what she was doing for a second. (that must have scared her. Sorry mom!). I told her, and she was so excited for us. Then I told her not to tell anyone yet. So directly after she tells the cashier. That's my mom for ya....just couldn't contain herself, even though I JUST told her to not tell anyone ;)
Then I called my Dad. I asked him if he had a minute. I asked him if he wanted to be a Papa or a Grandpa? HAHA he goes, "Whaaaat? You're just a little girl!" He was just joking, of course :) He was very happy for us and excited. Later on in the conversation, I said, "you didn't answer my question. What do you want to be called?" He says, "let's just stick with 'Dad' for now" lol...ok dad. Get ready Grandpa!
I let Aaron tell his family when he was ready to.

Needless to say, Aaron and I are ecstatic that we're going to be a mommy and daddy to someone finally. We've waited a long time for this, and it's finally happening. It's unbelievable.

p.s. I will update as often as I can. I am going to keep most of my pregnancy stuff off of Facebook because I know that I am not the only one that has struggled with infertility. I am very sensitive to that, so I am not going to blast this all over Facebook for everyone to see.
